Dr Giles Russell

Dr Giles Russell is an entrepreneur, educator and consultant.  Currently on the boards of City Wastes Bioenergy Solution, Strategy Foresight Ltd, and cofounder of Profcol Microfinance Ltd and CITRA Ltd. And others. He currently lectures at Coventry University London to Global MBA students and to BSc Business students at London College of International Business Studies with an Open University accredited programme. He has previously taught with Anglia Ruskin University and University College London on various post graduate programmes including an MSc in Management of Waste and Resources and an MSc in Technology Entrepreneurship. He has mentored at UCL, Regents University and Cass Business School.

Dr Russell has a broad range of previous experience gained through careers in science, engineering and government. He has a BSc in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Queensland, a PhD from Imperial College Department of Chemical Engineering and an EMBA (Distinction) from Cass Business School in London. He has worked in a variety of sectors including analytical instrument design and production at Surface Measurement Ltd (1993 to 1999 - pharmaceutical, packaging, oil and gas, coal) which he co-founded, aircraft security at Cargo Security International (2006 to 2009 - risk management and logistics) and Imaculum Ltd (2008-2018 medical device development).   He has advised the UK and other governments on strategic export controls for non-proliferation, international regimes on the limitation of weapons of mass destruction and information security at the UK Government’s Export Control Organisation .  He began his career as a scientist and mathematician, working on understanding and predicting fluid flows through porous media at the CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) at the National Measurement Laboratory in Sydney Australia and the Centre for Environmental Mechanics in Canberra Australia before taking up a position at Imperial College London in the Department of Chemical Engineering.
