ABDUL A. TANKO

A specialist in public relations, management and media, Abdul is the Chief Executive Officer of London based AIMEX Focus Ltd and Chair of the Community Achievement Network (CAN), London, a registered charitable community organisation. Elected Co-Chair of the Community Support Network (CSN) South London 2018 Currently doing PhD research into Viability of Setting up of a Specialist Financial Institution for Construction and Infrastructural Development (Case Study Ghana). Acting Chair/President of Alternative Economical Development Fund (AEDF) Dublin, Republic Ireland. He holds a Masters Degree in Finance Journalism Graduate Centre, The City University, London and post-graduate diploma from Germany. He participated in various training programmes including summer school at Christ College, University Oxford on leadership, management and international relations. Abdul who was born on 26th of November 1955 served as CEO of various organisations and Chairman of Board of some state financed organisations for years in the UK. Also served on the board and chaired some charities and community-based voluntary organisations in London. He is the President of the Royal Overseas University College (ROUC) a non-profit institution based on concept of social enterprise being established in the capital of Ghana, Accra providing UK qualification and higher education for African higher achievers from poor families.

Was President of the London College of Business Management and Information Technology (LCBMIT) Worked as a Consultant, and Director for a number of companies in and outside London He was the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of International Business Travel Magazine called Aimet International Magazine (business travel, tourism and investment for Africa and the Middle East). He has been extensively involved in management consultancy for youth training, leadership, mentoring, workshops, capacity building, and role-modelling projects in London and around the UK.

Some of the Projects included European funded SEED (Support for Employability Enhancement and Development) training for youth in London which he was the architect in 2003/2004. He was Director (London and Sheffield) of Home Office PALM (Preventative And Lasting Measures) centred around preventing youth from falling into wrong hands creating opportunities for the youth. He was part of system established by a few groups to promote discussions on domestic and international understanding as the secretary for Forum for International Relations Development.

He has written for publication and speaks at local and international conferences and forums on international relations and economic development. When he was Africa Representative in 2016 for McCloskey, heavy equipment manufacturers, Irish Canadian Stone Crushers manufacturing company he organised and led sales missions to East and West African countries.

AWARDS: He was honoured with various awards including an International Award in 2004 by Caribbean Diaspora Empowerment Foundation., Recognition of Achievement by US African Lawyers Society both in Washington DC USA and UK Pakistan Achievement Awards London 2010 for the promotion of understanding and economic wellbeing of developing communities. This was after invitation to conduct series of lecture tour in about six universities and Think Tank institutions, University for Management and Centre for Strategic Studies in Multan, Islamabad and Karachi promoting international relations and understanding in the company of six other European development academicians, from UK and Germany.

He has a working knowledge of Arabic and an interest in development of tourism having been the Global Chair of the FAATIS (First Annual Africa Tourism Investment Summit) a working group in Europe and Africa in partnership with the World Bank Group/IMF Africa Club (Africa Society) at World Bank Headquarters, Washington DC to develop the concept recognised today as key to Africa’s development and mass employability concept. He regularly gave talks at some seminars and workshops at the gathering of business leaders from Africa and Government at the World Headquarters and led joint missions to East African countries. He participated as guest speaker at international conferences in some countries in West, Central, East and Southern Africa. He did educational workshops with some companies in the UK, Poland, Belgium and Germany, Switzerland, Pakistan, USA, Spain and UAE
